What a great holiday weekend.  Drove through Sunnyvale on Friday night.  Boy you people know how to decorate.  I got the lights up on the roof and only had to go back up twice to fix them.  And I didn't fall off.  Saturday night after dinner with a big group at Classic Burger it was the walk through the lights in Vasona Park in Los Gatos.  My daughter and I carried portable speakers so we could have Christmas music playing wherever we went.  And it wasn't too cold.  Sunday after church we went to Mountain Charlie's Tree Farm (about a mile from our house) and found a tree right away.  Then we actually got up up and mostly straight.  Tonight we put the lights on that.  Whew.  Had to come to school to get some rest.  This morning the administrators hosted a breakfast burrito bar for the staff in recognition of Spartan Spirit tickets.

For Miniatures Club.  Aerodrome starts on Friday.  We are up against the Fall Celebration but it is a chance to bring parents by to see what we do.

After a weekend of 6.7 inches of rain in the Santa Cruz Mountains at my house we have a sunny day.  No Earthquake today but then the Giants aren't in the World Series either.   Science teachers worked on Next Generation Science Standards though I have a question about some of the standards and how they are expressed.  Light is said definitively to act as a wave (according to the standards) but how come it is bent by gravity (like a particle)?

Things I learned this summer:
Turkeys will fight each other even though you are right next to them
Great horned owls like bath tubs with water during the day time
Turkeys do not think Great Horned Owls are predators. (apparently they were correct on that one)
Baby raccoons are cute and mother raccoons are persistent.
There are 40 - 50 bears in the Lassen Volcanic National Park and my wife was apparently hoping we had seen one on our hike.

1 Diagnostic Test.  Remember that test you took in August that you had no idea about why you were taking a test?  This is that same test.  How much did you learn?  I am certain quite alot.
No matter how you did, look at the chapters you were having questions and do a quick pre reading to review for the STAR tests on Monday and Tuesday.

While today is Cinco de Mayo (remember 1862?), it is also the birthday of the singer Adelle (28), the Big Mac (way over 40) and the day the first no hitter was pitched in baseball by Cy Young (1904).  It is also Revenge of the Fifth day for those who missed Star Wars Day yesterday.

Agenda May 4 Star Wars Day

Today I wore my BB-8 pin.  1st graders at my daughter's school call him (it?) Baby 8.
Today was the Teacher Appreciation Lunch or as I call it, Food Coma Day.  There were great selections and I clearly did not eat enough bacon.  Still, I manged to go all day and night without anymore food.  It is the morning of the 5th and I am still not particularly hungry.  I also won a bottle of wine from the raffle and managed to trade it for an iTunes gift card.
Thanks to all the parents who donated items and food.  We all appreciated it.
