Summer 2013 number 1

Miniatures Club.  We are planning a game day for Monday, July 15 from 9am until a reasonable hour, (say 2 to 4 PM).  We will be playing a game called Battle Fleet Gothic which, while a Games Workshop Warhammer 40K product, show very nicely the characteristics of the Pre-dreadnoughts of the late 19th and early 20th century.  Think Tsushima but here the torpedoes work.

A great weekend of celebration.  My youngest graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on Saturday.  We are quite proud.  Now we need to find her a place to live near Cal State Fullerton for her Masters work.
Summer projects have started for me.  Some related to Santa Rosa, some here, and some miniatures stuff.

Teacher Triathlon was today.  We had a great turn out.  Mr Schieberl  road his electric bike carrying 3 8th graders on his trailer.  2 fell off.  I managed to win in the pool which was very gratifying.

Miniature Club - I bought a new game called Dominant Species.  It is 90,000 BC and it's getting cold.  You are one of the classes of animals, mammals, birds, insects, etc.  You want to set your class of animal up to survive the coming ice age.  Truly a game of survival of the fittest.  

We are aiming for a game day next Tuesday June 11.

Triathlon results from today.  Ms Austin was gaining on Mr Barrelli when she lost it in the mud.  Tomorrow is teacher team triathlon.  Watch out Ms Steiner.  Ms Chan may be the sleeper in this pool party.

Wednesday is the LAST day for any make up work.  If you already have an A, please do not try to give me more stuff.  I need to focus on children who want to improve lower scores.
Reminder, chewing gum on campus is against the school rules.  Repeat offenders will have their citizenship grades lowered in my class and this could effect your eligibility to attend the Great America field trip.
Triathletes must check into class before leaving to compete.  Otherwise, you are absent and this causes all sorts of problems.

Miniatures Club is contemplating a game day on the last day for 6th and 7th graders, June 11.  This is about 75% yes.
